Kootenai Aviation specializes in aerial tours through the ruggedly majestic Cabinet Mountain Wilderness area, which is less than 10 miles from the edge of Libby. We also offer aerial tours through the spectacularly rugged mountains along the continental divide in NW Montana. As you can see from the photos and virtual tour (below), this is not your average scenic flight; these are what I call "Professional" mountains with glaciers, mountain goats, an abundance of beautiful lakes set among the cliffs as well as high in the alpine.

Our scenic flights have a variety of routes that are available and since we book flights by the "party" rather than by the "seat" you will have the option of choosing the route that suits YOU!

In addition to local scenic flights, we are now offering longer excursions through Glacier Park, the Bob Marshal Wilderness, the Bison range and even multi-day excursions the cataclysmic Glacial Lake Missoula Floods, and the Mt. Saint Helens explosion.

Your pilot not only owns the operation but has been flying in the Cabinets for many years and can relate interesting historical facts, native American oral history, and names of mountains and lakes that will make this aerial tour come alive for you. Check out the videos on our scenic flight page: kootenaiaviation.com/scenic_flights.html.

Kootenai Aviation is certified through the FAA for Air Taxi (charter) operations, as well as aerial tours. Thus we can also pick you up at a regional airport and take you to your destination and even combine it with a scenic tour. Call for pricing information.

We take pride in offering Family Affordable rates. For the summer of 2015 we will be offering 40-minute flights for $160 and 1-hour flights for $235, longer flights are prorated by the tenth hour. We can take up to 3 passengers with a maximum weight of 600 lb. for the passengers. The above rates are for the flight, regardless if there is 1, 2, or 3 passengers. We happily take cash or checks. We can also take major credit cards but must add a 4% fee to the cost.

Getting There:

First, you must give us a call, 406.293.9320, and reserve a flight time.

Libby Airport is located 8 miles south of Libby. Take U.S. Highway 2 S. for 3 miles and turn left onto the Farm to Market Road at the small, green airport sign. Follow the Farm to Market Rd. 5 miles and turn into the airport's gravel parking lot shortly after passing the Forest Service Helibase. When you turn off the Farm to Market Rd., you will be facing a large, double gate that enters the airport runway area and you will see a beige building to the left of the gate. This building is the "pilot lounge" or "terminal" as I like to call it. It has comfortable seating and a nice restroom and your pilot will meet you there to plan the flight.
News from Glacier National Park Currently, 17 miles of the Going-to-the-Sun Road are open for travel.
